Excellent diagram 54 Fargo truck won’t start rebuilt carburetor to specs flat head 6 still won’t start idle was good always a flat spot is why I rebuilt carburetor doesn’t shake help. I’m changing to auto lite 303 plugs from champion
Suggest you verify fat spark at plug by opening and closing points manually with plug, plug wire, cap, and rotor all in position. Rotating distributor (after marking correct position) will give you the chance to open and close the points with all secondary ignition parts assembled. If the plug spark is weak (while resting plug on a great ground, having ignition in on position, and rotating distributor assembly) then you have narrowed down your search for the offending part. Do not rotate the engine while trying this method of diagnosis.
Newer points do not work well without first sanding the contacts with 2500 grit sandpaper. I’m thinking oxidation of the contact surfaces is occurring during storage/transportation of the new point assemblies currently being manufactured. Seen multiple cases recently.
Suggest you rule out the secondary ignition issues before thinking about fuel when diagnosing.

Thank you good point burns oil ,I drove it 4000 mi Alberta to Ottawa Ontario in 7 days plugs were filthy week points??
Rapid contaminated plugs consistently = weak spark?
What is your compression for each cylinder?
