The March/April 2015 Plymouth Bulletin covered many details of the 1937 Plymouth as well as sharing info on some of the best restored models in the Plymouth Owners Club. You can purchase a copy of that Bulletin from the Plymouth Club Store from Nick DeSimone 909-861-4950 for $3. plus postage.
The Colonial Region has a P4 Sedan in the Russo Garage and a coupe resting in the Ruops Garage. If any other Region members have a 37 please let us know so we can update the member car list.
Some have changed the transmission to a Chrysler or Desoto Overdrive to enable them to drive at any posted speed on the expressways virtually enabling blending in with traffic and getting to locations without putting an excessive strain on the smaller sized flat head motor. The transmission is outwardly looking similar to the stock 3 speed with shifter and parking brake similar functions. So if you have a 37 that is lazing about the garage because of speed limitations give some consideration to the overdrive. It shifts in and out automatically without much ado so the driver and passenger think things are just as they always were…..except for a lot less noise coming from the engine compartment during high speed. You will not be as worn when you get to your destination either.
Future Newsletters can cover aspects of a car model and year that strikes your interest; let us know what you would like highlighted.
