PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE                                                                                                                                                September   2016

Colonial Region

Is summer already over??????   The start of the school year and the color turning in the leaves reminds us there aren’t many weeks remaining to cruise around in those antique Plymouths.  It also makes the snow birds plan on heading south.  BUT – wait — we have several more interesting gatherings planned!

The mystery tour hosted by the Nichols was a great success. After an ever changing lunch group at the A & D restaurant in Millbury, 12 members headed into the country along beautiful roads to a surprise destination out in the middle of nowhere(Connecticut). We had a short meeting on a picnic table in the shade, while enjoying unique flavors of ice cream. We were the only ones at the Fort Hill Farm and ice cream shop. The weather was perfect as was the view. It was a very relaxing tour, thanks to Bruce for planning such a nice route.

The Plymouth 400 celebration is coming fast.  It has been suggested that the Colonial Region host a National Meet or Tour in Plymouth, Mass. for that celebration.  It happens in 2019-2020.  We really need to get planning If the club can manage to pull that off.   Please think about how you could help or any ideas you have and let Bruce Nichols know.  We need to make some major decisions soon.

Coming up next is the weekend in Hyannis on Cape Cod hosted by Vince and Carol Ruops. They will not be arriving on the cape early Friday the 16th, so the evening is on your own.   Saturday the 17th, Vince has planned a whale watch cruise.  That goes from 11am to 2pm.  Vince and Carol will host supper at their second home Saturday evening. A Sunday brunch is probable at the Yarmouth Inn.  Final plans will be at attendee choice.

October 23rd is the tour at the New Bedford Fire Museum hosted by Bill Rogers.

November 13th will be dinner at Wright’s Chicken Restaurant.

December 4 is the annual Christmas party at the Palmer’s.
