COLONIAL REGION PLYMOUTH CLUB MEETING: March 18, 2018
Members present: Whitmans, Palmers, Heiligmanns, Nichols, Crooks, Ruops and Ryan, Warren Richardson and Tom
The Secretary’s and Treasurer’s Reports were reviewed and accepted as written. Warren Richardson, who formed the Colonial Region in 1981, was welcomed. Judy distributed current rosters. The website was discussed with several members mentioning Don P. technical articles. It was decided that car cruises/shows will be added to the newsletter. Send any upcoming events to Judy. A draft of a Member interest survey was distributed and discussed. Bruce will edit as per member’s discussion. There will be a car, bike and tractor show on Saturday, May 12 at Ioka Valley Farm in Hancock, MA
Upcoming events, and ideas for events, were discussed. The April meeting will be on the 15th at the Annual Spring Car and Flea Market at the Stafford Speedway in Stafford Springs, CT. Vince has a spot at the flea market; enter the Speedway at the back gate at the back end of the track and Vince’s spot is just inside the gate. Carol and Vince will provide food around noontime. Bring a chair.
The Palmers will host the May 20th meeting with lunch at Sophia’s in East Windsor, CT, a visit to the Trolley Museum, followed by ice cream at Collins Dairy. The June meeting will be on SATURDAY, the 16th, from 10:00-3:00 in Hollis, NH. Bruce has arranged a tour of RMR Restorations followed by lunch at Joey’s Diner.
Suggestions for future meetings were then discussed. Don P. suggested a technical/instructional meeting with the first being a demonstration of the Colonial Region Sun 1215 Tester (see Technical Article at http://www.plymouthcarclub.com/2016/05/sun-tester-1215-lead-connections/) housed at the Nichols and owned by the Club. Warren suggested the Enfield Restoration shop and Kathy suggested a “show and tell” meeting. Vince suggested a Technical Meeting on carb overhaul. Doug will host a meeting at a museum containing 60 cars in Portsmouth, RI for July or August. Jim will host a meeting in Woodstock, CT in late summer or early fall.
Judy concluded the meeting by reading an article written in the Arizona Region’s newsletter regarding the National Club and its policy regarding unrestored and slightly modified cars and its relevance to attracting younger members.
Respectfully submitted,
Jane Palmer, Secretary
