PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE September 2018
It’s hard to believe Labor Day is here already. The first of September always brought the first frost of the season. Now we can plan on more summer weather until early October , at least. Except for the earlier darkness, we can keep on cruisin’.
Due to conflicts and illness, only 5 members and 2 guests attended the Newport car museum in August. Those that attended were impressed and enjoyed the trip. Don Whitman was actually at a local car show with his 1919 Dodge Brothers touring car. He got 2 trophies: 1 for having the oldest car, and the hard luck trophy because it quit on the way into the field. It quit again on the way home.
There are 2 more tech articles by Don Palmer on the web site. 1. “balancing tail light intensity” and 2.” 12V reverse polarity Electra-steer info”.
Our member survey is done. Thanks to those that replied. General conclusions are:
Members are mostly happy with the variety of activities we schedule although almost all wanted overnight tours. Several members wanted more interactive car activities : hands on maintenance and repair workshops and parts swaps. The majority suggested every other month meetings , especially in bad weather months.
Most would only drive their old cars 40-60 miles per meeting.
Our next meeting is the cruise on Webster Lake on September 16. Bruce and Judi needed to make reservations by Sept. 1st, so hopefully you have let them know if you plan to attend. We will have a nice lunch overlooking the lake after the tour on the Indian Princess at Indian Ranch. Arrive at 10:00am . 200 Gore Rd., Webster.
Our October meeting is on Sunday October 14th at the Waters Farm Fall Festival car show in Sutton, Mass.
