PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Nov/Dec 2018
Don Palmer has done it again!!!!! Another technical article; “Color Sanding” is on our web site. I have lost track of how many he has created. He is a wealth of information although he admits to not knowing “everything” about all years. Thanks, Don, for your contributions.
Since our November and December meetings were scheduled for the first Sunday of the month, I felt it was easier to do one letter in between. The Christmas meeting event info is included here. It has been posted on our web site since October.
A couple of items for the Dec meeting:
1. Should we have a dues reward incentive (a no dues year)?
2. Don Palmer has come up with a dues reminder letter which includes the way to inform him of your vehicle changes
3.Don and Judi Nichols have been working together to come up with a good end of year report that reflects more information in easier format.
4. We need a volunteer for the newsletter in 2019.
There is no election of officers this year. That will be held in 2019. If anyone would like to look at the survey returns, let me know. I will have them at the December meeting.
The October meet at Waters Farm Fall Festival and car show was very successful and enjoyed by all who attended. However, there were some problems, mostly created by the wet weather just prior to the show. All the fields were extra wet, thus both show cars and spectator parking was limited, preventing many from attending. Some people walked up to a mile to attend. Even with that, the attendance broke records.
November 4 was our annual dinner at the Wright’s Chicken Farm Restaurant. Several other car clubs were eating there that day, and because of the gorgeous weather, the parking lot was a giant car show. There were cars from as early as 1900 to 1990’s. Brass, Model Ts, muscle cars, a whole row of Model As, modified, hot rods, and a Woodie filled the rear parking lot. We all enjoyed looking around. 20 members and guests enjoyed the awesome view and a great family style dinner.
December 2 is our annual Christmas party meeting at the Palmer’s home in Tolland, Ct. See the details on the attached event form. This is always a fun meeting because of the Yankee swap. You are not obligated to participate in the Yankee. Please call Jane Palmer by Nov 26 to suggest your pot luck dish. Meats are already claimed. Hope to see you all there.
ALSO: Save the date of February 10 for our annual dinner meeting at the Oliver Wight Restaurant in Sturbridge, Mass.
