June 25^th… The Big Event

 This month’s regional meeting will combine a fun filled day of Food, Cars, Fun, and Festival as the Plymouth Club Colonial Region joins in to take part of the wedding activities of member Jim Dunlea and Qin Li.

 To be sure.. .this is no ‘stogy’ wedding. It is a ‘no gifts accepted’ (we have enough ‘stuff’ hanging around at this point in our life), come dressed in ‘cook out casual’ day of fun, cars, food, conversation. Celebrate along as Jim + Qin accept some colorful wedding vows (to occur at some point in the afternoon.. if neither ‘chickens out’   J ).

 Jim + Qin wish that the Plymouth Club Colonial members make a showing with their classic ride of choice for the event. Provided we have no rain (we know how this spring has been… wet) we should have a good showing or cars, tractors, and other ‘cool stuff’. It should be a fun afternoon.

 Here are the specifics;

·         It is casual !!!!   Dress in your cookout attire, shorts, etc.. But shirt of some sort (not just tee shirt.. unless it is a hot day) should be worn. Be as colorful as you may like. Hawaiian or car motifs work well J.

·         It will be catered in a FUN way… there will be a colorful food truck hired for the day, catering the event.

·         Although the food and beverage will be provided… we need to commit a head count to the caterer.

·         This is a young adult and pet friendly event. Your pets are welcome (large safe yard). Ditto other family members welcome but we need that head count.

·         Date;   Sunday June 25^th   See below for arrival time

·        Time;  Suggest you arrive between 11:30 and noontime so as to have some ‘mingle time’.

o   If you are bringing a ‘cool’ car, arrive a little early (i.e.;  11:30) as there will be separate area we will park the ‘cool stuff’ and we can stage all the cars in

·         Address;  57 High Street, Bellingham Ma   (just off RT 495, ‘Wrentham Mall / Outlet’ area as a nearby landmark for rough travel time planning)

·         Rain Date;  There will be a rain date for ‘the wedding event’. Let’s face it.. .it is always risky to try to pull off a outdoor event. The Plan… we stay Agile and Flexible….

o   Be sure that Jim has your phone number if you plan to attend. We may need to make last minute phone calls.

o   In the event of a wash out, there will be NO Wedding, but there will still be a small club only meeting at Jim’s house. Same time.  Jim will cook on the grill, etc.  Depending on how bad the weather is, we may take a small driving tour.

o   The decision on ‘wedding’ or ‘no wedding’ of course will be delayed as late as practical but still expect at least a club meeting as noted above.

o   If the forecast is really horrible,  Jim may even propose (last minute via phone call notification) a place to meet for luncheon that is ‘fun’ and centrally located.

·         Food;   As noted,, the event is being catered. That said… people always want to bring something.. it is human nature.. it is part of our proper upbringing to still wish to bring something. Being that is how I operate myself.. never show up empty handed… I DO WANT TO ACCOMMODATE and ACKNOWLEDGE the graciousness of our guests that wish to bring something.  Here is what I arrived at;

o   Pot Luck Appetizers;

§  Contact Jim or Qin (by phone fairly soon) if you would like to bring an appetizer to share. Again.. not required that you do… but some people just really love to cook !!!

§  I am guessing there will be about 70 – 80 people attending.

§  If you wish to bring an appetizer, think about serving 8 or so people. I am sure we will have 10 or more guests (between all the guests) who will want to bring an appetizer.

§  But do call Jim or Qin as noted above. We will try to coordinate so we do not get 18 set-ups of stuffed mushrooms for example J

§  Think along the lines of typical finger appetizer fare.  We will provide a table (appetizer station with plates, utensils, etc) to lay out your appetizer

Last, we hope for a great weather day. And we hope all can make it to this event. With good weather, it should be a fun day.
