June 2021 President Message

With so many venues opening again, it was sad to have Memorial Day weekend so cold and rainy.

Luckily, the weather was perfect for the May driving tour. From the 10 members participating, the reports were all positive. Bruce and Judi Nichols did a great job organizing the tour from Millbury, MA to Woodstock, CT. Even though many places were still closed, Bruce managed to find a good place for a picnic and ice cream. He has written a nice review which is posted on the web site along with pictures.

Don Palmer has finally connected with John Russo so we can pay him for setting up and maintaining our web site. We have been unable to pay the annual fee and owed John $464.63. The treasurer ( Judi N) has sent John a check. John is hoping to rejoin the club in the near future.

Don Whitman Has unearthed an old club picture. We recognize most of the members but are unable to identify 2. I am mailing the picture to Don Palmer to post on the club web site. It will probably take a couple of weeks, but keep your eyes open for it. There are 2 men next to Natalie Crook ( on the right) I hope someone can identify. And,, what year ?

Jim and Qin Dunlea have offered to host the June meeting on Sunday the 20th. ( father’s day) at their farm in Woodstock, CT.

Jim has sent a long email to members with details for an Outdoor pot luck picnic followed by a road tour for ice cream. He included a rain date and “ heat” date. He needs your RSVP and bring your lawn chair. I will attach his directions to this message. Masks are not required unless you are unvaccinated.

We have no other meetings planned at this time, so think about what you would like to do and could you host or set up something. It would be really nice to meet some of our “missing-in-action” members.

Judy

Dunlea June 2021 Invitation to the Colonial Region Members

What:    June 20th, 2021 Plymouth Club Meeting

When:   Sunday, June 20th, 2021  11:00 am arrival

Where:  Jim + Qin’s Place,  30 Pulpit Rock Road, Woodstock, CT

Hi All:  Jim + Qin will be hosting the June Plymouth Club meeting at their Woodstock location. We will do a repeat of years past of a potluck lunch. We enjoy trying the different dishes that people bring.

Basic Agenda;  Arrive about 11:00 am to allow for some socializing and set up time. We will eat about noon time. We will provide beverages (soda and water, etc), hotdogs, plates and utensils, chips, condiments, etc. We will also provide some sort of spicy Asian dish, and some brownies.  There will also be a grill to use. You all can bring what you may wish to share such as other versions of salads, dips, soup, chili… feel free to use your imagination !!!

The location is kid and pet friendly and both are welcome (perhaps the pets more than the kids.. ha ha). Feel free to bring any guests.

Short Road Tour Ice Cream Trip;  There will likely be some deserts brought, and we can nibble during the lunch, but we will do a short drive / tour around town, and go to an ice cream stop.

RSVP Please;  If you are planning to come, pls call Jim or Qin @  617-653-6412  (you can send a text there as well). Let us know by the Thursday before Sunday so we can plan how much food to buy.

Rain / Heat Date;  Each of the last two times we hosted the lunch here, the temps were almost 100 degrees and both were rescheduled.  In the event of rain or heat on Sunday..  1st Option;  We will do it the day before.. Saturday June 19th.  This has the benefit of a nice cruise night about 10 minutes away that begins at 3 pm. We can go there after lunch for an hour. There is ice cream there as well    2nd Option;  If the weather is bad that Saturday and Sunday, we can try again on the following Sunday, June 27th.

Directions;  Most people just use GPS these days. Using your GPS navigate to either Roseland Cottage or Woodstock Academy (the high school). Both are next to each other. Pulpit Rock Road is about 2 minutes away, just off Old Haul Road.  We offer this method to navigate as we find that many GPS directions will bring you to the west end of Pulpit Rock Road. We live on the east end of Pulpit Rock Road, near the Academy.

See you all then !!!

Jim + Qin

PS:  If people express enough intertest, we are happy to flip the schedule around… the primary day being Saturday (with Sunday the Rain Day). This will allow us to go to the cruise event after we eat on Saturday. It is a pretty nice cruise event… relaxing.. yet just about the right size, 150 cars or so. Let me know what you think. I could be FUN !!!!

  1. Hello! I am the original owner of a 1992 Plymouth Sundance America, 2-Dr. Hatchback, 5 on the floor. Bucket seats in the front, bench in the back that folds down for additional trunk space. I love this car! Currently, it is tagged for 2021, insured for liability. I can/will give you specific details on it. Original color is teal. I believe it now qualifies for Antique status. Can send pictures if someone will send me a text since I have successfully attached pictures in response to a text message sent to me. My phone is not attached to Internet, and I use a public computer as a rule to communicate via e-mail. If anyone is interested in this car, I will sell it to them, with the hope of restoration back to its former glory. Body is in good shape. Fuel pump is out, and that is all that I know of to put it back into running condition.

    1. The Plymouth Colonial Region has a “For Sale” category on the website where, if the description is adequate & the Plymouth is near New England, we can post the listing. Please advise if you are interested in this service.
